Adjudication & Dispute Boards


To avoid lengthy and costly litigation, which can halt construction completely, adjudication and dispute boards are well-established alternatives. While adjucation is concerned with early dispute resolution, dispute boards mainly focus on dispute avoidance in working with the parties to safeguard the project´s best interest. In such cases, Leo Grutters acts as adjudicator, independent expert witness, dispute board member or counsel.

Leo Grutters has been involved in adjudication and dispute board procedures for nearly 20 years. As a member of the FIDIC’s President’s List of Approved Adjudicators, he is one of the few considered experts in this field of dispute avoidance and resolution. As the current President Region 2 for the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF), he is recognized as an advocate of this project focussed methodology of managing disagreements and/or disputes.

Leo Grutters is familiar with the FIDIC and ICC Rules for Dispute Boards and other internationally used adjudication rules. He has served either as chairman, party-nominated adjudicator or as dispute board member in countries including:
